One of the more peculiar, but lesser known, incidents in the Apollo mission occurred when an astronaut gave himself communion on the moon. Buzz Aldrin used a kit prepared by his pastor back home. The incident occurred during radio silence, to avoid lawsuits from angry atheists, as Madelyn Murray O'Hare had filed suit after Apollo 8 astronauts read from Genesis while orbiting the moon at Christmas.
